SOUTH DUBLIN ROCK SCHOOL

South Dublin Rock School begins its third module on Sunday 2nd April 2006. After the pilot project and our highly successful autumn module last year the staff have formulated a programme that covers all the basic necessities of the young musician starting out. In addition to the instrument classes offered on guitar, bass drums and keyboards (during which students are tutored on their instruments, and in the rudiments of music theory, composition and arrangement) classes will now be run on songwriting, and workshops given on musicianship and sound engineering. We will continue the practice started o during our last term of inviting guest lecturers from the Irish music business to offer students advice and information on careers in music. Top Irish bands The Walls and Autamata will be giving workshops on song writing and the use of technology in performance and recording. South Dublin Rock School provides a professional backline set-up which consists of a 180 watt Roland VGA 7 guitar amp, a 65 watt Ashdown bass amp, a Pearl Forum drum kit and a number of Yamaha keyboards. There is a Spirit Power Station mixing desk and Bose Panaray 802 Series III speakers. Rehearsal space is also provided for the bands that will be formed during the module. This year we are pleased to announce a colloboration between ourselves and Killinarden Community School. WE have been working with the school's After-School Music Club for the past year and have arranged with the school to run the bulk of our classes in their fine new music wing. Some workshops will also take place in Tymon Bawn Community Centre, Tallaght.
